Sabinsart Studio


Sabinsart Studio belongs to artist Saga Sabin.  Saga took art in High School in England, where she lived until 1976 before immigrating to Canada. She moved to Ontario from Alberta in 2001.

She has taken art workshops and courses at the University of Alberta Extension program as well as with Loyalist College, Belleville, and through the Belleville Art Association. She paints regularly with a group of other artists in Tweed including the internationally known artist Bob Pennycook.

She paints in acrylics and watercolours in an impressionistic or semi-abstract style.

Saga is a former President of the Belleville Art Association and is a member of the Quinte Arts Council, and the Tweed Arts Council.  She has exhibited at the Stirling Fine Art Festival, Kingston Women’s Art Festival, Madoc Art and Music Festival, the Tweed Studio Tour and other juried shows in Ontario.  In 2009 she won the Ontario Crafts Council Design award at the Quinte Arts Councils show “Expressions 09” and another award in 2009 at the Belleville Art Associations annual juried show.

Her work can be seen at her studio on a farm near Plainfield as well as at the Tweed Heritage Centre and Noah’s Ark in Tweed.  Other showings include the Belleville General Hospital, Rosehaven Store in Picton, the Belleville Art Association’s Studio & Gallery at 392 Front Street, Belleville, Ontario, and at Stockdale Mill Gallery. It is also displayed in various stores and offices in the Quinte Region.

She has sold work to the USA, England, Ireland and France as well as other Canadian provinces. Her work is in several private collections and in the permanent collection at the Tweed Heritage Centre.

Apart from doing her own paintings, she now works part-time as a medical columnist and as an art instructor for Grumbacher International. She teaches painting in acrylics.
