The Arts Route, started by the Hastings County Economic Development Office, has won a national marketing award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC). The Award, announced at EDAC’s annual conference in Peterborough on October 3, 2011, recognizes the new Arts Route website as an innovative online platform.
“We are honoured to be recognized as innovators,” states Hastings County Warden Jo-Anne Albert. “Receiving this prestigious award helps continue to build Hastings County’s reputation as leading edge in terms of online marketing and promotions.”
With funding from the Eastern Ontario Development Program and help from Fine Line Design in Stirling, Hastings County launched the niche website ArtsRoute.ca earlier this year. As part of the County’s Premier-ranked Tourist Destinations Project, the website offers a clearinghouse of information on professional artisans and businesses selling/making local art across the County. The website is also “smartphone friendly” to make navigation easier while mobile. Signage on provincial and municipal roadways has been installed, along with signage at member locations, helping to create a brand and direct traffic to the website.
“This award is a great honour”, notes Economic Development Manager Andrew Redden who attended the EDAC Conference and received the award on behalf of the County. “Having been selected from more than 200 projects across Canada demonstrates, once again, that we are leading the way with the use of new economic development tools and practices.”
The Economic Developer’s Association of Canada (EDAC) is Canada’s national organization of economic developers pursuing excellence in the field since 1968. The Association offers its members professional development, networking opportunities and a comprehensive offering of resources, both on and offline. Visit www.edac.ca for more information.
